Welcome.

Welcome to the Romanian Appeal Helpline’s website. Here you will find out more about the charity and what we do and have achieved is the past. The charity is very grateful to the commitment of its volunteers of the past 18 years and would like them to share their thoughts, stories and photos from Romania with us on our website.
We would also like to thank all our sponsors and supporters, without whose generosity and help our continued work in Romania would not be possible.

Who we are.

After the fall of Communism in 1989, the media world captured the hearts of thousands of people, after revealing the forgotten children of Romania, tied to cots, banging their heads against their mattresses or other objects, no stimulation and no hope for the future. The shocking conditions in which these toddlers existed resulted in an explosion of "Romanian" charities being set up all over Western Europe and America. Our Charity was formed in 1992, unlike many of the other charities set up at this time, the "Helpline's" philosophy was to improve the physical conditions in which the children lived, with only limited direct contact with the children.
Many of our volunteers are recognised tradesmen plumbers, electricians, joiners, bricklayers etc., as well as general volunteers who will turn their hand to anything that is needed.

Frank Askin

We wish to inform you that Frank Askin a valuable member of the Romania Appeal Helpline for the past decade, has decided to retire from the charity. Frank organised the supply of paint and on site associated works. He also sought the white mini bus now used by the charity out in Romania. Him-self and the people of his home Village of Dalkey raised a tremendous 27,000 Euros over the past decade. We thank him for his help and support and wish him good health in the future.
Thank-You
